Stress Free. Comfortable. Easy.
Preparing for your Newborn Photo Session is simple. Just bring your baby into the studio and we will do the rest. The studio is stocked with everything we could need for your newborn session. We have a changing table stocked with baby items in case you run out of the house without those essentials. We also have a variety of props and outfits available for use with each session.
Commonly Asked Questions about Newborn Photography Sessions:
Q. Can I bring my significant other or children? Can they be in the photos?
A. Yes of course! This is your first family photo together so spouses, children, and family pets are always welcome to join the newborn session at no additional cost. However, please make sure to ask if we’ve scheduled enough time. We’ll need to discuss staying on schedule to include other members of the family, etc.
Q. I just had a baby what do I wear?
A. Wear something that makes you comfortable. A favorite maternity shirt is always a good choice. I have tricks that will make you look your best you just need to be comfortable. Think neutrals and light colors. Avoid loud prints or stripes. As for dads, have them compliment your outfit. But keep him neutral as well. While men in plaid dress shirts look great it may distract from the newborn session. Try to avoid it if possible.
Q. What is the best age to photograph my newborn?
A. Newborns are best photographed 5-10 days after your home from the hospital. It’s best to book your session with me based on your due date and we will select a day and time after your baby is born. I only reserve a handful of newborn sessions a month so it’s best to book early to secure the spot on the calendar.
Q. What should I bring to the newborn session?
A. The BABY and formula or Breast Milk! That’s it….you don’t really need to bring anything. I have everything I need to make you a wonderful gallery of images that will document this tiny human. If you want to bring something special or meaningful to the session I welcome it. A special Quilt from Grandma or Dad’s College Baseball mit can always be incorporated into a session. I’d be happy to talk over details with you on making this extra special.
Q. How long does a session last?
A. A session lasts around 2-3 hours. We leave time for feeding or an extra mom snuggle if needed. If we are photographing small siblings we will start with all the family/sibling images first. And then a family member is welcome to take the sibling home or out to lunch while we finish with the baby alone images.
Q. What days do you photograph newborns?
A. Newborns are photographed in studio Tuesdays- Fridays starting at 10am. I understand Dad’s go back to work and siblings are in school. If you want them in the photo I just ask that you reserve them an hour out of school to be at the session. We will photograph them first and then they are free to go. Weekends are reserved for my own family first and I do not have enough time to schedule everyone on a weekend.
